The Hasegawa Pro-PE Lite Black Soft Polyethylene Wood Core Cutting Board (FPEL) features a slightly firmer surface than the Soft Rubber Cutting Board, making it well-suited for everyday kitchen tasks like slicing vegetables, meats, and fish. That said, as with all soft cutting boards, its primary focus is preserving your knife’s edge rather than maximizing durability. It excels in gentle slicing but is not designed for heavy-duty chopping or cutting hard items such as frozen foods.

While firmer than the Soft Rubber Cutting Board, the FPEL model remains softer than standard plastic boards, ensuring a balance between knife-edge retention and ease of cleaning. Constructed from a blend of three types of polyethylene and infused with antibacterial agents certified by the Japan Antibacterial Products Association, it offers superior hygiene and reliability.

For delicate tasks requiring precision, such as fine slicing or sushi and sashimi preparation, we recommend our Soft Rubber Cutting Board, which provides an even gentler surface to minimize impact on the blade.

Please note that this board is not suitable for use with serrated knives or tasks involving heavy pressure such as used with a Deba, as these may cause deep cuts and accelerate wear.
